در یک سیستم نظارت تصویری عموما دو سناریوی مختلف جهت استفاده از فیبرنوری در نظر گرفته می شود. مهمترین عامل در ضرورت استفاده از فیبر در این سناریوها مسافت طولانی و عدم توانایی استفاده از زیر ساخت کابل شبکه در این مسافت های می باشد. یک سناریو استفاده از فیبر جهت اتصال به دوربین مدار بسته در نقاط دور دست است.
